sadly, today i have cancelled my neynar subscriptionmy open and free farcaster hub has been shut down tooall my bots that i've built on farcaster already haven't worked for a while because of rapid api changes that, frankly, i don't have time to fixa stupid tg bot i've built in 2016 (8 years ago) still works today because there weren't many breaking bot api changessmart contracts that i've written years ago are still up and runningi'm not leaving the ecosystem just yet but it is difficult as it is to build something people want to use, moreover when you literally have to fight for these things to work repeatedly every few monthsi'm also demotivated to build anything on farcaster now because i'm afraid it will break again in 1-2 months

now, i've truly tried to overcome this by going slow and fixing @gpt first — i've upgraded everything, including github.com/BigWhaleLabs/botcaster (this still works btw) — and it worked! github.com/backmeupplz/farcaster-chatgpt was alive again for like 20 minutes until it died againi don't want to spend any more time to keep trying to fix what happened againi could have predicted this when i built mfsa.cc, precisely when farcster ecosystem became overcomplicatedfirst, farcaster decided to cater to clients as opposed to simple bots like minenow, farcaster caters to "mini-apps", again, as opposed to simple bots like minethe result is that whatever one doesn't nurture simply dies offyou nurture 3rd party clients — clients pop up like mushrooms after the rain, you nurture mini-apps, they pop up like mushroomsbut in this whole thing farcaster, neynar, etc, you guys are missing an important thingpeople don't want complexitythey want to @remindme 2 days

this is what i'm sure most users see when they try cast actions, they can then go into "discover" and be so lost with choice that they become paralyzed and just don't make the choiceframes were great! we need more things like that, and i've built many frames myselfnow, mini-apps? will suffer the same fate as composer and cast actionsand i know, @dwr.eth will swoop in and be like "55% of users on mobile use cast actions" but i sincerely hope that the team has stats on non-airdrop farming accounts separately so that they can gauge the real interest in features

anyway, this is just me venting with unsolicited feedback on how i feel about farcaster recentlyi'm in no way upset that i've did these things on farcaster, it's the opposite — i loved every moment of it and i'd love to keep building here, i'm also v grateful for the subs i got on farcaster and i love the communityi'm upset that this is kind of ended for me now with no capacity to fix what i assumed shouldn't've been broken to begin withwe had it all, and the breaking api upgrades they costed us everything

i'm also upset that having 100k+ followers this cast thread will be seen by like 10 peopleyou, my favorite 10 people, are the true gold of this platform

now, i also trust my instincts here a bit more — having repeatedly ignored them over the last decadee.g. when doing a lot of zk work just to be completely ignored by @vitalik.eth when he listed *all* our competitors (that actually haven't had a working product) and conveniently forgetting to mention us (probably because we've never been a part of ef or their friends)or when overstaying in tg ecosystem only for the tg team to sherlock 5 products of mine exactly 5 years after i've launched each one of them (probably because i've never been a part of tg team or their friends)now, i see multiple red flags in farcaster ecosystem, e.g.:
- airstack fully pivoting into moxie (that's what's making money)
- neynar team dictating things like "you should use x over y" even though my context clearly says that i can't use x due to security implications — but they don't care
- farcaster dismissing the "small developer" (which are a lot of us)

i'm sure there are more smaller red flags that i don't even want to think of — but these three are kind of enough to trigger my spidey sense to move oninterestingly, when i voiced my concerns over issues in the tg ecosystem in similar manner they've improved on them (no matter how much i shit on how it was before), we'll see if this holds with tg, but the latest product we've built? our tg bot was *so much* more useful than whatever i built on farcasterthis is a v bad news for me and for many smol devs out there that don't want "snapchain" or whateverwe want hey @gpt how do you like this joke i made in this pic hahawe want smol solutions to simple problemswe don't want to install a cast action (impossible to find) to set a simple reminder, we don't need a mini-app for thatwe want irc-type of "/flip-table" bullshitagain, i want @remindme 2 weeks
